It is now recommended that we enjoy between 5-10 fruits and vegetables every day to maximise their natural benefits however we are all different and depending on our digestive system and appetite, these numbers can vary for each one of us.
Juicing is a great way to ensure your body gets the right amount of vitamins and minerals.
Juicing fruits and vegetables is beneficial occasionally however enjoying them raw, cooked, steamed in many variety of dishes are super nutritious.
When it comes to juicing and indeed smoothies, it is recommended that we enjoy them as soon as they are ready because the longer they are left around, the more natural occurring sugars they will have which can impact your sugar levels! That is why, in my opinion, I will avoid any processed types of juices (cartons and/or bottles) as their sugar levels will be quite high regardless of them being natural, fresh and pure!
Celery, Cucumber, Apple & Ginger Juice
To serve 1 person you will need the following ingredients:
- 1 apple, quartered
- 8 celery stalks
- ½ cucumber
- ½ inch ginger root
- ¼ inch turmeric root
Benefits of Celery: Celery is rich in vitamins and minerals with a low glycaemic index (meaning it has a slow, steady effect on your blood sugar). You’ll enjoy vitamins A, K, and C, plus minerals like potassium and folate when you eat (or drink) celery.
Benefits of Cucumber: Cucumber is great for hydration as 95% of it is water.
Cucumber has Vitamin K which helps support bone health as well as potassium and magnesium, which are needed to help lower blood sugar levels. Cucumbers have anti-inflammatory benefits which support our immune system as well as supporting the following health conditions: cardiovascular, diabetes, autoimmune conditions, depression and cancer.
Great for the skin, cools against sunburn, puffiness around the eyes as well as a relief for skin irritation and swelling.

Benefits of Ginger: Ginger has powerful medicinal properties and is used in many alternative supplements to treat certain health conditions. Ginger aids digestion, reduces nausea and can help fight flu and cold symptoms. Ginger is high in gingerol which is a substance with powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. This is a great addition to support healthy body (bones, muscles, nerves, arthritis etc.) and healthy mind (brain function, memory function, Alzheimer’s etc.)
Benefits of Turmeric: Turmeric may be the most effective nutritional supplement in existence and has many benefits to both body and brain. Turmeric is a natural anti-inflammatory ingredient as well as being a powerful antioxidant.
