About your instructor
An innovator in the field of fine tasting experiences, Francis Gimblett has spent over thirty years selling, making, writing about and entertaining with artisan cheese and fine wine.
In 1987 he became the country’s youngest head sommelier at a five-star hotel, a year after he was legally entitled to drink.
After subsequent periods in fine wine broking then winemaking overseas, he formed the events company Taste of the Vine with his wife Pam.
The company has since staged over 3000 wine, cheese, whisky, ale, cider and other fermentation-based events in 47 countries over 23 years.
What you’ll learn
In the interactive show guests learn how to detect grape types, region and quality of international wines.
The event begins with light-hearted instruction to Francis’ methods of tasting, then guests deduce the answers set on the tasting charts.
The event also covers essential and wine tips covering aspects of buying, storage and service, as well as food and wine matching. You’ll also have the opportunity to pose questions and interact with Francis.
